Target
The project "No discharge to nature" aims to promote and improve efficiency in implementation and implementation of the program of sorting domestic solid waste at source; effective management, collection, recycling, and reuse of recyclable waste and awareness of the community, promoting green production, zero-emissions production, contribute to improving efficiency in environmental protection, building a circular economy associated with sustainable development goals.
Specifically, the Zero Waste to Nature initiative aims to have four (04) goals: (1) solving problems arising from plastic waste; (2) building a roadmap to formulate and promote sustainable business models; (3) developing a circular economic-oriented value chain as well as (4) proposing policies to facilitate the implementation of a circular economy in Vietnam.
In the first phase, the core activity of this initiative is to sort waste at the source in the area of Tan Phu district implemented by the City Urban Environment Company in cooperation with VBCSD and Unilever Vietnam Company.
The project is one of five initiatives that VCCI submitted to the Prime Minister at the National Conference on Sustainable Development on September 12, 2019.
Activities
- May 26, 2018 – The “Zero Waste to Nature” initiative was officially launched in Ho Chi Minh City, marked by the launching ceremony taking place at the Trade Center. Aeon Mall Tan Phu Celadon.
- In the framework of the launching ceremony, delegates of the Ho Chi Minh City government, VCCI, and businesses participating in the initiative visited Tay Thanh Apartment, gave gifts, and encouraged households to apply the sorting waste model at the source.
- On November 24, 2018, the Company and its partners organized a series of activities to introduce and propagate “Communication program and expansion of the project of garbage classification at source in Tan Phu district” with many new and attractive content points such as: introducing a new flyer with an intuitive and vivid propaganda guide to classify garbage into 03 categories (organic waste, recyclable waste and remaining garbage); exchanging more garbage with mixed plastic packaging, which has no economic value, is often put in the remaining waste; introducing a typical public media area in Tay Thanh apartment; Especially for the first time applying the 4.0 technology to the waste classification program with mGreen software (app mGreen).
The series of activities will be carried out from November 24, 2018, to January 21, 2019, at households at 09 apartment blocks of Tay Thanh and 06 streets of Le Lu, Le Khoi, Cay Keo, Tran Hung Dao, Doc. Lap, Tan Son Nhi. In addition, this round of communication and education programs on waste classification at source has been expanded, reaching more than 10,000 turns of students and teachers at 05 primary and secondary schools (Le Anh Xuan secondary school, school Phan Boi Chau Secondary School, Nguyen Hue Secondary School, Le Lai Primary School, Le Van Tam Primary School) in Tan Phu District.
